In the 1901 Census of the British Indian Empire, the population of the princely state of Kashmir and Jammu was 74.16% Muslims, 23.72% Hindus, 0.89% Sikhs, and 1.21% Buddhists, 0.032% others.

In the British census of India of 1941, Kashmir registered a Muslim majority population of 77%, a Hindu population of 20% and a sparse population of Buddhists and Sikhs comprising the remaining 3%. Kashmir: roots of conflict, paths to peace, Harvard University Press. Pp. 307, Bose, Sumantra (2005)

Approximately 150000 - 200000 Pandits of Kashmiri origin left J&K during late 1980s and early 1990s due the very much anti Hindu situation in the State. The Government has not even moved a pittance to rehabilitate the Pandits back to their homeland.

In 2003, the percentage of Muslims in the Kashmir Valley was 95%[36] and those of Hindus 4%; the same year, in Jammu, the percentage of Hindus was 66% and those of Muslims 30%. This shows the decline of Hindu & Sikh polulation and the rise in Moslem head count.

As long as the Kingdom was ruled by Raja Lal Singh till circa 1846 and then by the Dogra clan till 1947, Jammu and Kashmir had no serious ethnic problems. The Moslem appeasement policy of the Congress during led to a Mohammedan uprising there.

M.A.Jinnah wanted the Himalayan Kingdom with Pakistan, while Sheik Abdulla wanted it for himself. They both perpetrated the Jehadi Mohammedan warfare on Kashmiri Hindus and Sikhs to consolidate their hold. Jinnah miserably failed in this attempt to control Kashmir, but Nehru handed him a part of it under the UN auspices, while the Abdullah family still holds fort in our part of the J&K due to the appeasement policy of Congress.

Also the GOI has not been able to check the Chinese advances in the Gilgit-Balistan and the Aksai Chin - Karakoram regions. We lost the north eastern portion of Ladakh to China in the 1950s and left that area with them after the 1962 debacle.

We still suffer a lot due the imbecile idiosyncrasies of Nehru to get himself a dream name of Peace monger while living in a phantom world of universal comradeship, an imagination inculcated by the failed ideology called socialism which is nothing but a watered down form of Communism.

Kashmir became a Muslim Majority State only after 1953. Sheik Abdullah brought the Muslims from Pakistan, deliberately dislodged the Hindus from Srinagar, Baramullah, Sopore and elsewhere and made the Muslims to settle there. The Hindus were killed, raped and terror unleashed by Sheik Abdullah. Nearly 50 Lakh Hindus were massacred by the Muslims and false documents were created and their immovable proprieties were given to the Muslims. All these were done between 1947 - 1953. After which the constituencies were allocated in such a way that more number of seats was allocated to Srinagar, where Muslims became a majority and less number seats was allocated to Jammu. There were much more discriminations unleashed by the Shiek Abdullah family in collusion with Jawharlal Nehru. In fact Nehru lost his patience and he shifted Shiek Abdullah from Kashmir and sent to Ooty
